Alternatives to Fastlane by PayPal include Bolt, Shop Pay, Stripe Link and Amazon Pay. For enterprise teams, a key difference is the processor: Fastlane requires card processing with PayPal, Shop Pay runs on Shopify Payments, Link runs on Stripe, and Amazon Pay processes its own payments. Bolt works with your existing processor or Bolt Payments.
What Fastlane requires
Fastlane recognizes guest shoppers by email and fills in saved details after a one-time code. PayPal's integration guide, updated October 14, 2026, lists four requirements [F3]:
- Card payments processed with PayPal.
- PayPal's Orders v2 API, so merchants on legacy PayPal APIs upgrade first.
- PayPal offered as a payment option alongside the Fastlane email field.
- A billing address collected during checkout.
For merchants already on PayPal's enterprise processing, PayPal says those on Enterprise Payments or Expanded Checkout "keep their back-end integration and only make small front-end updates" [F1]. PayPal reports that Fastlane shoppers convert around 37% higher than other guest shoppers, based on its internal data from April to June 2025 [F1]. The Fastlane Terms say additional charges for Fastlane may apply on custom pricing, and that PayPal and the merchant are each independent data controllers for Fastlane customer data [F2].
What to compare in an alternative
- Processor dependency. Which processor does each option require, and does it fit your current contracts?
- Orders and data. Who creates the order, and who controls the shopper's saved details?
- The email field. Email-based recognition layers compete for the same field, so most stores run one of them there.
- Fraud liability. Who pays when an approved order charges back as fraud?
- Platform route. Is there a maintained cartridge or plugin for your platform, or is it a custom build?
- Network reach. Each company reports its own network size. Measure recognition rates on your own traffic.
The alternatives
Bolt. A full checkout with a shopper account network. Bolt connects to 11 documented processors as a gateway, including Stripe, Adyen, Braintree, Authorize.net, CyberSource and Checkout.com, or Bolt Payments can be your payment facilitator. Bolt says Bolt account holders convert 50% better. Bolt provides cartridges and plugins for Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Adobe Commerce and BigCommerce. Its optional Fraud Protection add-on provides indemnification of qualifying approved transactions that charge back as fraud, under your Bolt agreement.
Shop Pay. Shopify's accelerated checkout. Off Shopify, it's added through the Shop Pay Wallet API. Shopify's docs say you create a new Shopify store for the integration, Shopify processes Shop Pay payments with Shopify Payments, and Shopify creates each order, which your system reconciles [W1][S3].
Stripe Link. Stripe's wallet. Link works with Stripe Checkout, Payment Links, Elements and Invoicing, so Link payments run on Stripe [L1].
Amazon Pay. A button that uses the shipping and payment details in the shopper's Amazon account. Amazon Pay lists integrations with Shopify, Adobe Commerce, WooCommerce and BigCommerce, among others, and charges its own processing and authorization fees and disburses funds itself [A1][A2].

Running Bolt alongside other options
Bolt runs as the embedded one-click checkout on the email field. Bolt doesn't support running Fastlane or Stripe Link on the same storefront. Shop Pay can stay as a separate express button. When you replace Fastlane with Bolt, PayPal can stay as a payment method in Bolt checkout, and a Braintree relationship can stay in place as your Bolt gateway. Measure conversion for new and returning shoppers separately during the switch, since each company's conversion figures are self-reported.
FAQ
What's the best alternative to PayPal Fastlane for an enterprise store?

Bolt works with 11 documented processors or Bolt Payments, so it fits stores that want to keep their current processing.
Can I replace Fastlane without leaving PayPal?
Yes. With Bolt, PayPal can stay as a payment method in checkout, and a Braintree relationship can stay in place as your Bolt gateway, on any platform Bolt supports.
Does Fastlane cost extra?
Fastlane payments are charged at your PayPal card processing rate. The Fastlane Terms say additional charges for Fastlane may apply if you have custom pricing.
Can I run Fastlane and Bolt on the same storefront?
No. Bolt and Fastlane both recognize shoppers from the email entered at checkout, and Bolt doesn't support running both on the same storefront.
Which Fastlane alternatives work on Salesforce Commerce Cloud and Adobe Commerce?

Who controls shopper data with Fastlane?
The Fastlane Terms say PayPal and the merchant are each independent data controllers for Fastlane customer data. With Bolt, your store keeps cart, pricing and order records, and Bolt shares the shopper details needed to complete each order.
